Situation
In 2015, the National Olympic Committee and Sports Confederation of Denmark and DGI joined forces to make Denmark the world’s most physically active nation. With support from TrygFonden and the Nordea Foundation, the ambition was turned into the initiative 'Bevæg dig for livet' (Move for life), which, in collaboration with 25 municipalities and 14 sports, developed 125 new exercise concepts. This year, the original vision period has come to an end, and there is a wish to compile and communicate the most important experiences from the efforts to get more Danes to be physically active and engage in the club and association sector.
Complication
Due to the scale of the initiative, it has been difficult to create an overall picture of the many insights and experiences that have emerged over the years. The material has been scattered, text-heavy and inconsistent, which has made it challenging for municipalities and clubs and associations to understand which measures have had the greatest impact and why. This has hampered the ability to translate knowledge into action and inspire future sports initiatives.
Recommendation
Based on the knowledge and experinces of the initiative, Epinion recommends that future initiatives take their point of departure in the documented success criteria that recur across the most impactful measures. Using language technology methods and qualitative analyses, we have created a catalogue of experiences and drivers that can serve as a strategic reference tool. The catalogue not only provides an overview of what works, but also why it works, and makes it possible to build on the past ten years of learning rather than starting from scratch. The catalogue has been communicated in two reports in Danish, which can be downloaded here.
