Statens Vegvesen and the Ministry of Transportation in Norway need profound knowledge on how private citizens travel in Norway. These national travel habits constitute an important basis for deciding and communicating about public transport on behalf of the Norwegian Government.
Epinion gathers data over a four-year period using combined designs, i.e. both web and phone. This combined approach secures a high response rate and is cost-effective. Data is gathered daily with use of a tailormade electronic solution that verifies answers and give instructions to increase data validity and ensure a true representative sample across both geograpy and season.
By the end of 2019, Epinion will reach approx. 96.000 completed interviews over a four-year period. These interviews provide detailed knowledge on all trips conducted by private citizens in Norway incl. choice of transport mode, origin and destination, private residence and the location for work/school as well as access to means of transportation.
